Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does "AYANA" mean?
“Ay” means moon and “Ana” means mother in Turkish.
Ayana honors the universal, natural, protective and nurturing feminine energy woven into every aspect of our work.
We design, craft and curate intentional, durable, and deeply personal jewellery so you feel great in your skin, all day & every day.
Q: Do you make all of your jewellery in-house?
Jewelry is rarely a one-person operation. Though we design and handcraft most of our pieces in our Burlington studio, we do source pre-made parts and occasionally finished pieces for the sake of range and affordability. We curate carefully selected and ethically crafted pieces from our trusted suppliers, all the while hand finishing them or adding either a unique touch just to make them our own.
Q: How do you source your materials?
We work regularly with a number of reputable suppliers based out of Canada, and occassionally from the US and Turkey to access a variety of materials and make sure our metals and gemstones are ethically sourced.
We also love to create opportunities to collaborate with other artisans from time to time, local and international, to bring to life unique pieces and stories that we wouldn't be able to otherwise.
Q: Do you make your own packaging?
We design and print our jewellery cards in house from scratch. Our linen bags are hand-sewn in Turkey, a large chunk of our packaging blanks are imported from China - and hand-finished in our Burlington studio.
Every online order comes with a handwritten note and a little something extra.
Q: Do you take custom orders?
Absolutely! Depending on the pieces, custom orders may take up to 4-6 weeks to bring to life, so I recommend we start chatting earlier than later so we make sure your vision is realized as close to perfection as humanly possible. You can start by filling out this short custom order form.
Q: Do you make repairs?
Yes, but unless it's a piece produced at the workshop, the repairs may be handled by trusted metalsmiths that we collaborate with depending on what that specific repair requires.
