The one and only Organicks: how they are uniquely handmade every single time.

For the past few years, I’ve been sharing retail space with some talented makers from all over Ontario.
I’ve also been neighbors with a number of brands that label their jewelry as handmade and overwhelmingly carry mass-produced merchandise.
Now I never see a smalls business as competition, I believe in win-win scenarios that help everyone grow together. Massive overseas factories that mass produce fast fashion jewelry, that blatantly label their flash plated metals as “gold-filled” are a whole other story unfortunately. For when we produce "the same piece," theirs cost a fraction of my price and I can’t really compete with that. They also have the means and resources to reach far many people than I ever can as an artisan jeweller with a boutique store.
To be honest, acknowledging this made me feel so powerless at the time that I decided to tackle my frustration the best way I knew how:
What could a budding goldsmith could make right then and right there, that no jewelry factory could possibly not be able to make?
So I started imagining a collection of jewelry, that if fabricated in the exact same manner, could not physically be replicated or be mass produced. A collection of jewellery that had a life of its own: not even the artist had absolute power over how the individual pieces turned out.
And it birthed the “Organicks Collection.”
Made by intentionally melting sterling silver or solid gold, only the fire gods know 100% where the metals will flow upon being touched on the soldering plate.
Every time I fabricate them using the same method, each piece turns out to be perfectly imperfect and out one of a kind. So if you ever see any two Organicks that look exactly alike, you’ll know they’d been made by casting, and, not a real Organick.
The Organicks require a sentient maker to be able to exist.
The Organicks need a metalsmith to watch them intentionally and attentively while being melted. They need someone able to hear the minute changes in the hissing fire. A hand directing the fire at will, as it’s being watched and listened to. (Also smelled, yes.)
Whoever the metalsmith, when they’re fabricated using the same exact process, they’ll turn out to be 100% uniquely handmade as well. They’ll possess talent and experience, time and effort, sweat and blood.
That would be a joy to see. (Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery, afterall)
Everybody wins 😂💖
So far, I’ve made small batches of studs, gemstone studs, pearl drops and pearl rings as Organicks.

What would your imperfectly perfect Organick look like?
Watch below how an Organick Pearl Ring is Made. The packaging has changed mind you, but I still make them with the same method. 🤗
